Faculty Collaboration Structures

Executive Summary

Faculty collaboration is critical to the success of your apprenticeship degree program. Reach University uses data meetings, common rubrics, and "lunch and learns" to facilitate faculty collaboration, but you should develop practices specific to your institution.

Data Meetings

During data meetings, faculty look at attendance data, academic data, and other indicators. They identify bright spots and challenges, and work together to develop solutions. A sample agenda for one of these meetings is here.

Common Rubrics

Across disciplines, faculty use the same rubric based on core skills. This enables students to understand expectations and facilitates faculty collaboration.

Lunch & Learn

In these meetings, instructors bring promising practices to share with one another, as well as challenges that need to be addressed. For example, at Reach University, a Lunch & Learn helped us discover that students were struggling with science because the writing component was occurring too late, so we moved up our writing classes and saw significant improvement.
